SiteScapes, Inc. has a firm understanding that a quality powder coat finish is an essential ingredient to our site furnishings. That is why we offer two varieties of exterior rated, polyester, powder coat finishes for all of our products.
Powder coat finish ( Five year warranty )This protocol of blasting, degreasing, and coating is a 9-step process that creates an extremely corrosion-resistant, polyester finish in your choice of color. This finish makes surfaces impervious to rusting, fading or cracking. The powder coat finish remains virtually maintenance free and is accompanied by a five-year warranty.
1. Steel shot blast to a white ultra-fine finish. This allows for removal of any mil scale, rust, weld silica, and minor mill imperfections rust, while prepping the steel for maximum powder adhesion.
2. Product is rinsed in an alkali chemical wash to further remove any surface contaminants that have been infused to the part after blasting.
3. Product then receives a series of three fresh water rinses to ensure the ultimate cleanliness.
4. A zirconium conversion coating is applied that is designed to penetrate and seal the material on a microscopic level and promote adhesion and rust prevention after powder is cured.
5. Product is than ran through a dryoff oven to remove any moisture from the substrate prior to powder application.
6. Product is briefly cooled to optimum coating temperatures
7. An ultradurable TGIC polyester powder is electrostatically applied at 3.8-4.5mils. All standard offered powders meet the AAMA 2604 architectural standards.
8. Final product is cured at approximately 400 degrees for 35-45 minutes.
9. Once the product is cool to the touch is is ready for packaging or further assembly.
DuraCoat Finish ( Seven year warranty ) This finish includes all of the process implemented in powder coating including shot blast, wash and pre-treatment. Additionally, DuraCoat finished products receive a zinc-rich epoxy undercoat that is applied prior to the TGIC polyester colored top coat. This provides a corrosion-resistant layer to seal all welded joints and surfaces. The end result is an extremely durable abrasion-resistant coating that is accompanied by a seven-year warranty. DuraCoat finish is highly recommended for high salt content environments.

7. An epoxy powder base is applied at 2-4 mils. This creates a durable corrosion resistant undercoat.
8. Product is baked 10-15 minutes to ensure a proper gel.
9. Product is briefly cooled to optimum coating temperatures
10. A TGIC polyester powder top coat is then applied at 3-5 mils. The polyester top coat is an AAMA 2604 exterior rated coating and maximizes protection against the elements.
11. Product is then baked again for 40-45 minutes to achieve a full cure on both the epoxy base coat and the TGIC top coat. This ensures proper intercoat adhesion.
12. Once the product is cool to the touch it is ready for packaging or further assembly.
